Ok...So...here we go! I think I am going to post about the site visit in "installments"...easier to digest...and easier to accomplish...this will be the first one...enjoy!
These three pictures invite you to meet our unreached people group...you can learn more about what this means at a link at the side (I hope!), but in a nutshell, people in this group stand a very good chance of living their entire lives without even knowing anyone who follows Jesus. As you can see, they live in an earthly paradise...though the vast majority walk in spiritual darkness. Do you notice the black and white check cloth? The balance of good and evil is very real to these people. It is not uncommon to see this checked cloth around shrines, temples, statues, and very large trees (trees of a certain size are considered to have a spirit)...their street curbs are also painted in alternating black and white. There are two shrines associated with most houses...the one facing the volcano is considered for the "good" spirits, while the one on the side of the house opposite the volcano is considered for the "evil" spirits. Sacrifices (bits of food, flowers, etc) are made multiple times a day to these different spirits.
